Wow, a year already!
Believe it or not, it's been one whole year since the first article appeared on the Internet Tablet School.
Since then we've seen the launch of OS2008 and the N810, and we have a feeling that something even more exciting in the Nokia tablet world should be appearing by the end of the year.
In the last twelve months the Internet Tablet School's text tutorials have been read approximately 400,000 times and its videos have been viewed approximately 200,000 times. Those are staggering numbers for a "Nokia tablets for dummies" site, especially as many sceptics still claim the tablets are only used by hardware hackers.
There clearly are many, many non-nerds using these devices, and the stereotype of Nokia tablets as difficult to use is just wrong. They are no more difficult than a home computer running Windows, Mac or Ubuntu, and in fact for internet-related tasks the tablets are arguably much simpler and easier.
Hopefully we'll see even more consumer-friendly tablets appear from Nokia soon (perhaps with a phone built in?) so they can become the successful mainstream products they deserve to be.
Credit where credit's due
We've had an amazing amount of help and support since we launched, and the Internet Tablet School would like to thank Nokia (for providing a free N800 and nearly-free N810 as well as lots of advice and support from Victor Brilon, Quim Gil, Jussi Mäkinen and WOM World), Reggie from Internet Tablet Talk (for providing a vast quantity of encouraging support and creating the Tablet Scene site), Thoughtfix from Tabletblog.com (for the regular plugs and the excellent RSS Feed tutorial video), GeneralAntilles (for various helpful suggestions and appropriate nagging), Maemo Bugzilla, the maemo.org development community, and many others on the Internet Tablet Talk and Tablet Scene forums who have helped newbies take their first steps on the tablets.
What about the next twelve months?
There are more tutorials on the way, and of course we will cover any future Nokia tablet devices too, but while you're waiting we would suggest you to visit the excellent Tablet Scene website, an online community intended for casual non-nerd tablet users.
